Through the experience of Skiing Cascadia I hope to gain:
1. A community who will share their experiences with each other and build a new knowledge base. More specifically, a group of fellow skiers and riders to share the laughter, smiles, tears, powder, grins, knowledge and pure joy we all seem to get from sliding on snow. Last season I skied 25 out of 87 days with only my two husky dogs for company/safety. This year I hope to have partners for not only all 40 peaks, but also for every day I ski.
2. A foundation to build and fulfill my other life adventure goals. (Skiing on all seven continents, sea kayaking the Inside Passage, and sea kayaking to go skiing.)
3. Further mastery of my 32-year study of Nordic skiing. The first 20 years of Nordic skiing were spent training and competing as a racer, which developed high levels of aerobic fitness and skiing ability. The last decade has been focused on fine-tuning the Telemark ski turn and the pursuit of high summits followed by deep powder skiing.
4. The peace and wisdom of the mountains.
5. Unforgettable memories to cherish and share for the rest of my life.
6. The return of the word adventurer to its home as a career choice.
7. Protection for our planet and sustainability of the snowpack for generations to come.
